Pants and bass

Pants and Bass is the result of a studio-process, where we have had a couple of future productions in mind. The process has been motivated by the desire to create a space inspired by fine arts, and insert man into this space. We have explored the meeting between man and digital media, and pressed him into the conditions and contraints of the space. We were interested in the dynamic generated by these contraints, and the opportunity it presents to challenge the actor's sense of self and his identity.

Teater NOR has enjoyed this process immensely, and hope that this is reflected in the performance.

Pants and Bass is a three-dimensional poem, where the man, the actor and the bass player Øystein Sanne physically enters his own poem, and shares his everyday-life with us. He shares his thoughts, experiences, personal moments and also his shortcomings with us. He invites us to observe and take part in his encounter with himself, filtered through the constraints of the space.

He visualises his longlings and fears. He shows us the distance between hope, dream and reality, and how this distance may be a creative motor both as a man and as an artist. He also shows how the distance may be paralysing.
